Back in the days when "Made in China" had more to do with Granny's cup of tea than imported mass-produced electronic products, Abbey Sound designed and manufactured a range of amplifiers, speakers and audio accessories. The images below represent a small selection of our products, all lovingly crafted by hand during the 1970's, 80's and 90's. It is often said by former owners lamenting their loss: "If you ever come across an old Abbey amp, snap it up, because they just don't make 'em like that anymore!" Solid, reliable, labour intensive... and never to be repeated in the brave new throw-away world.
Abbey Boogey II Total valve (6L6 output, 12AX7 preamp), 60/100 watt output switch. Lead the world with channel switching (Preamp & Master Volume). Inbuilt reverb. Circa 1978-84.
Project-X Combo So named for its secret design. Plenty of punch: 85 watts RMS, inbuilt reverb, MOSFET output stage. With guitar in one hand and Project-X in the other, it was off to the gig. A practice amp it was not!
AF12P Powered Foldback Wedge (Rear view). It was inevitable that we would power our highly successful AF12 Foldback speaker.

MH300S dual channel power amplifier. 150 watts RMS per channel. Particularly attractive with gold on black panel. Amber neon in power switch a nice touch too.
Bottom images L-R: Abbey 100w amp (NZ made) c.1976; Abbey slave amp (NZ made) c.1978; Abbey Harmonic II Head c.1990.
HVP Preamp & HV120s Total valve. Stereo effects loop. 2 x 60w output usually sold with 2 x 12" boxes with angled top. This allowed for a spacious stereo sound with brilliant effects incl ping-pong delay. Circa 1988-92.
HMEC-8 programm- able Midi Controller Specifically designed for programmable switching of Harmonic II or HVP/HV120s amps. Simultaneous channel switching & MIDI effects control. Largest heavy-duty footswitch unit when all other units had gone plastic.
AB1000 Bass Rig Max Headroom stereo 600w power amplifier.
PPX1000 Bass Preamp X-over
